PRO CIVIS successfully completed another BioBoosters hackathon
On April 24-25, 2025, REFAL Hackathon took place – another innovative event organized as part of the BioBoosters project. This unique venture brought together six passionate teams who worked with great enthusiasm for two days, with the objective on delivering innovative solutions aimed at valorizing biomass from apples. The energy and creativity of the participants created a unique atmosphere that inspired everyone to act.
The first day was marked by intensive mentoring sessions, consultations and networking, culminating in a joint dinner. Participants exchanged ideas, drawing on the knowledge of experienced mentors, which allowed them to refine their concepts. It was a time full of inspiration, during which new acquaintances were born and ties between innovators were strengthened.
On the second day, the teams proudly presented their innovative solutions during a pitching session, and the jury announced the winner. Emotions were running high as participants shared their visions that have the potential to revolutionize the approach to apple biomass. The event was not only an opportunity to create and deliver innovative proposals, but also to build cooperation between participants.
The winner of the hackathon is the Norwegian – Polish cooperative Food4Future Technologies / Dar Ogrodu team, whose project was selected from six competing proposals. Their innovative approach delighted the jury and showed the great possibilities hidden in apple biomass. Congratulations to the winners! We would also like to thank all the teams: Institut for Food and Environmental Research (Germany), Lodz University of Technology (Poland), POMEX (Finland), Konstrubowski Engineering Group (Poland) and the Institute of Horticulture (Poland) for their passion, commitment and extraordinary energy that fueled this event.
Special thanks go to mentors: Udayakumar Veerabagu, Maciej Guzik, Aalto Anna, Tadeusz Pęczek, Eija Iso-Aholi, Inguna Kucina, Joanna Boduch-Paw, Artur Sobolewski and the REFAL team: Stanisław Chachuła and Zbigniew Rewera. Their support and knowledge were invaluable, and the enthusiasm with which they shared their experience additionally motivated the participants to act.
The BioBoosters project opens the door to further challenges and cooperation that shapes the future of innovation in Poland and the Baltic Sea region. This event showed how valuable such initiatives are – they not only develop skills and creativity, but also build a community of innovators ready to change the world.
